Why Wellness Exams Matter for Pets
A yearly (or twice-yearly, for senior pets) wellness exam allows us to do a full nose-to-tail checkup. We’ll examine your pet’s eyes, ears, teeth, skin, heart, lungs, joints, abdomen—you name it. Even if your pet seems perfectly healthy, these visits give us the chance to detect subtle changes that may signal something brewing beneath the surface, like early signs of arthritis, dental disease, or weight changes that could impact long-term health.
The earlier we catch something, the better—and often, the more affordable and manageable it is to treat.
What to Expect During Your Pet’s Wellness Visit
Every pet is different, and we tailor our exams to your pet’s age, breed, lifestyle, and health history. But here’s a general look at what we cover:
-
Full Physical Exam
From their teeth to their tail, we’ll check your pet’s overall condition and look for any abnormalities or early warning signs.
-
Vaccinations
We’ll review what’s due (or coming up soon) and discuss which vaccines make sense based on your pet’s daily life.
-
Weight & Nutrition Review
Is your pet maintaining a healthy weight? Could they benefit from a diet tweak? We’ll help you find the right balance.
-
Behavior & Lifestyle Discussion
Noticed any changes in activity level, mood, or bathroom habits? Let’s talk about it!
-
Parasite Prevention
Fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal worms can cause a host of problems, but we’ll make sure your pet is protected year-round.
-
Diagnostic Screening Tests
Throughout your pet’s life, we may recommend routine lab work or other tests to screen for hidden issues.
We love getting to know your pet over the years—watching them grow, change, and age gracefully. That familiarity helps us spot even the smallest changes that might otherwise be missed.
